Before enrolling, ensure you meet the requirements:
Age 65 or older, or
Under 65 with a qualifying disability, or
Diagnosed with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) or ALS
Tip: If you’re still working, your employer coverage may affect your enrollment timeline.

Medicare offers multiple ways to receive coverage:
Original Medicare (Parts A & B)
Optional: Medigap + Part D for prescription drugs
Medicare Advantage (Part C)
Combines Part A & B and often includes Part D + extra benefits
Tutorial: Compare your options using a side-by-side table to see which plan meets your needs.

Monthly premiums
Deductibles
Copayments & coinsurance
Prescription drug coverage
Tip: Consider total out-of-pocket costs, not just premiums.

Initial Enrollment Period (IEP) – 3 months before to 3 months after your 65th birthday
General Enrollment Period (GEP) – January 1 – March 31 each year
Special Enrollment Period (SEP) – Triggered by certain life events
Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) – October 15 – December 7
